Intertitle: "Pipe Line 1948" Probably Portland-Montreal Pipeline; see also Portland Pipe Line Corporation Collection 30:10-31:11 LAS of man on hill using surveying equipment to survey land, then CU of man hammering stakes into ground. 31:11-31:25 Burning brush at edge of field/forest. 31:26-36:44 Tanker truck on site brings water. Then large bulldozers move across field. Underexposed. Various shots of heavy earth-moving equipment at work, moving through heavy brush, pushing dirt downhill, clearing a large swath of land. It's sunny and looks like summer. 36:45-45:49 LS out of focus shots of large machinery crossing country road and moving into open field. Several earth-moving machines are seen in CU working along the ground, taking down brush. LS two large bulldozers come down hill of field toward camera. Good view of a machine creating a ditch for the pipeline. ELS of the ditch across a field and road. Various views of pipes being lifted into the ditch by a small crane and steam shovel deepening the ditch for the pipe. A few scenes of dynamite explosions in field to loosen the dirt. Various views of pipeline workers cutting pipe, welding, lowering pipe into ditch, and long views of the pipeline ditch with pipe in it. Views of bulldozers covering ditch with dirt.
