Donor Notes: Reel 34 is a film about an experiment to test the nutrient qualities of soils in the Black Rock Forest with intertitles throughout to explain the footage. Footage includes workers placing jugs of water on a raised platform, painting and numbering metal pails, putting a sieve in the pails and filling them with soil, planting seeds in the pots and protecting the pots and the nutrient solutions from the environment, transplanting seedlings into the pots, watering the seedlings with chemical and nutrient solutions, watering the plants, removing seedlings from the pots and washing away the soil, examining the seedlings under a microscope and cutting of the roots of the seedlings and filing them in envelopes.
