The film follows Admiral Richard E. Byrd and Floyd Bennett's first flight over the North Pole from the start of their journey by freighter out of New York Harbor, through their exploration and flight, and ending with a celebratory parade upon their return to New York and President Calvin Coolidge presenting Admiral Byrd with the Congressional Medal of Honor.
Reel 2: Airplane takes off and lands at King's Bay where explorers greet Byrd. The plane is followed by the dirigible for the first part of its flight to the North pole. The plane arrives back and there is a celebration on the freighter, followed by a parade in New York City, and President Calvin Coolidge presenting Admiral Byrd with Congressional Medal of Honor.
