Color home movies of the Whipple family's travels through the American West in 1939, including scenes shot in Colorado, Utah, and California.

Sign: "Echo Lake Lodge" in Idaho Springs, CO. Group hiking over rocky terrain adjacent to parking lot. Mountain vistas, rock formations. Shots of a town and large mountain lodge--Colorado Springs? Zuni art. A Native American man, woman, and boy. The man and boy, in headdresses, perform a brief dance. Sign: "Summit Pikes Peak" Young man standing beside sign, views from the summit. Shots taken from the rear car of a narrow gauge train traveling along river. Train station sign: "Salida" Cut to shots of Mormon Temple, Salt Lake City, UT.
