1967
Part of 'Job Opportunities Series 1967.' Filmed at Denholm's Department Store, downtown Worcester, Mass. and at Leop's Beauty School in Worcester, Olive's Beauty Salon, Boston, and WGBH Studios, Brighton, State Board, Boston. Synopsis: A great poet once wrote: 'A thing of beauty is a joy forever.' Today, there is scarcely a community anywhere that does not have at least one salon or beauty parlor. This film explores the wide variety of skills providing gainful employment in the hairdressing and cosmetology profession to thousands of men and women of all ages. These include the receptionist, shampooer, tint or dye operator, hair stylist, manicurist and facial expert. It details the procedures and qualifications, as well as the training, for a successful career as a licensed beautician. Many of these jobs lead to high paying positions: demonstrators in department store and wig specialists; make-up artists in movie and television studios, and many other branches of show business, ie: advertising, publishing, and the world of fashion.'
