Inclusion and Assistive Technology
Our lobby and auditorium are at street level. Our bathrooms are wheelchair accessible and have signs featuring Braille. Our auditorium offers in-row wheelchair parking as well as space on the wing. Our auditorium features an audio induction loop for those with t-coil hearing aids. This offers customized sound tailored to your specific needs. We also offer assistive listening headsets if you just need all sound amplified. And at most Sunday afternoon shows, Open Captions are shown on the screen. Service dogs are always welcome. Many of our generous Members request that we donate the free passes they are entitled to to our local food pantry, Bucksport Community Concerns. That way, if times might be tight, those who might need a night out the most, get to have one. We have offered “Sensory Sensitive”screenings in the past. Lights up, sound down, lobby doors open and freedom to not worry about remaining seated or not wiggling. We know that we have a ways to go in being completely inclusive. (Our visually impaired patrons especially.) But we welcome advice and financial assistance and are happy to endeavor to make the Alamo accessible to all.
