Watercraft racing is part of Maine’s lifestyle, and lobster boat racing in particular, is enjoyed on the rivers and along the coast. Here are some of the news clips from the mid-1970s of boating participants, part of the NHF collection being digitized now with the support of an NEH grant, that capture the several ways in which something other than traditional white-sail racing is part of Maine’s watery traditions.
