Farming in Maine

Winter months can be harsh in Maine, and so the summer months of farming are enjoyed and maximized. The television news collections now being digitized and uploaded, with support from an NEH grant, captured many aspects of farming 50 years ago, including the details of raising potatoes as reported during a visit by the state’s governor, and the joys of farming equipment evident in the faces children trying out some display models at a “farm day” fair.
