The highest honor of the field, the Silver Light Award, was awarded to Northeast Historic Film in 2013 by the Association of Moving Image Archivists. This recognition is for many people including staff over 27 years, many hundreds of film and video donors who built our outstanding collections, and our supporters and colleagues.

The Silver Light citation says, “The impact of Northeast Historic Film on the field reflects the founders’ ingenuity, perseverance, creativity and, above all, vision executed with the highest standards. Many younger moving image archivists have been nurtured as interns, fellows or employees of NHF. Now they, like so many apple seeds, have scattered across the landscape dedicating themselves to our moving image heritage and influencing the course of the future.” The Richmond, Virginia, conference citation was presented by Andrea McCarty (Wesleyan University Cinema Archives and NHF board member).
