Collection also contains footage of an American Legion parade in New York in 1937, and battle ships in New York harbor in 1934. Included in the collection is the amateur work, "Poem of Montclair," described by Geer in Movie Makers, the magazine of the Amateur Cinema League, in the September 1933 issue. The short film shows life in a commuter's family, including early morning in Montclair, NJ, and the ferry to New York. Collection also contains amateur fiction: a skit at Geer's law office regarding a bankruptcy case.
Blanche Geer (1920-1993) was born in New York City; she served in the Navy during World War II, later completing graduate studies in anthropology at Columbia University and her doctoral degree in education at Johns Hopkins. Her father, Olin Potter Geer, was a member of the Amateur Cinema League and worked as a lawyer in New York City, commuting from the family's home in Montclair, New Jersey. They spent the summer months in Boothbay Harbor, Maine.
