"New Hampshire, summer 1967. This is at what was my grandfather’s summer place in Meredith, NH. Meadowbrook Farm. Near Laconia. Shot of Eero Ignatius, AFS student from Finland who lived with us for the school year of 1967 and went to Bangor High, My grandmother giving me a hug. Everyone hugging and saying goodbye. The Dietrich, with their AFS student, were on their way to the Montreal World’s Fair, I think. Shift of locale: David on the beach at camp with a big lobster in his hand. Mark, too. And Johnny Stearns, a friend of Mark. Change of scene: In Orrington, David on side of road waiting for school bus—maybe first day of high school. He’s joined by his friend Kenny Harding. Mark riding his bike in Orrington yard. He takes off down the road. Mary Lou in pink dress in Orrington. Mary putting down garage door and getting into the Oldsmomile Vista Cruiser, which is all packed up."
