Abstract1:12:49-1:14:03 Man and daughter walk through deep snow in woods toward and by camera on snowshoes. Views of cabin covered in snow, and man and daughter walking on snow. 1:14:04-1:15:03 Beaver at edge of river, swims out into water and away from camera, the swims to shore. 1:15:04-1:18:54 Cut to B&W footage. Footage along a river with ships in B/G, town along the river edge, two Girls and mom on passenger ship looking over rail. Girl sits on bench on ship sipping soda from bottle. Views from aboard ship. Views interior of ship and views on promenade around the ship while underway. girl poses by lifesaver ring which says "Princess Helene St. John, N.B." Various shots of the ship, family looking at the sights. Views from ship as it comes into dock and dockhand waits with line. 1:18:54- 1:22:48 Street scenes in town with cars and bicyclists, appears to be late 1940s or early 1950s. Large fish(?) are unloaded from the ship at the dock. rural fishing village scene with small shacks, fishing gear stacked. Men unload open boat whose bottom is filled with caught fish. buckets are hauled up the side of a building and poured into a window. Views of boats at dock and anchor in the harbor. One small sailing fishing boat is "Robertson III Shelburne NS". An oxen cart passes by on the street. Kids play with blow up floats in surf on sandy beach, then ride the float in like a surf board while Mom, then Dad watches. Some scratches. 1:22:49- 1:24:45 Various views of landscapes, including flat farmland, sign indicating "Evangeline's Well". Mom and daughters look into well, see a statue of Evangeline with a small church behind. 1:24:45-1:26:43 Train passes camera, then shots of small fishing village, with traditional sailing fishing vessels gammed at the dock. Men work on each ship baiting long lines. Mom and daughters watch the boats in B/G. One boat has "St. John's NFLD" on stern. views of industrial area with smokestacks spewing smoke, refinery area, all industrial area. 1:26:44- 1:27:43 Two girls at Christmas showing their presents. One holds a foam football. One winds a jack-in-the-box. One pushes a doll baby carriage. The older one opens a painting kit. 1:27:44- 1:30:40 Small bird is seen at a bird feeder on a snowy day. Boy walks down very snowy road and others drag a sled. Several people shovel a large amount of snow. Looks like a large blizzard ( March 1946?) In the middle of the village, a made on snowshoes carries a box of supplies past the camera. views of very snowy landscape with people walking as best they can. One woman peeks out of half0covered door. Everyone waves from behind the tall drift in front of the house.
