Summary
The Estella Doughty Collection consists of 20 reels of amateur 8mm shot primarily by Estella Doughty between 1965-1982. The films document Estella's grown children and their families including family activities, horse shows, horse back riding, clamming, and picnics. They take place mostly in Freedom and Bath Maine, and on trips to visit family in California and Alabama. Of particular interest are reels documenting local events, including a parade in Freedom.

Biographical/Historical Notes
Estella Doughty was born in 1906 and died in 2000. She was married to Seth Doughty. They lived in Bath, Maine and had nine children: Seth Nelson Jr.(Sonny), Harold Emery (Teedie, married to Harriet), Elmer (Chek, married to Francis), Eunice (married to Robert Coombs), June (married to Armand Southard), Rose Barter, Julia (married to Floyd Raven), Doris Black, and Ruth (married to Ben Peyregne). All of the children, except Rose and Doris, appear in the films with their spouses and many of their children. Estella's sister Julia married Earl Bryant and also appears in the films. They lived in Dresden, Maine. Ruth (Ruthie) lived in Alabama with her husband Ben, and June lived in California with her husband Armand. The rest of the children lived in Maine. Harold, his wife Harriet and their children Harold Jr. (Bud), Carmen, and Susan appear many times in the films. Julia Raven, the donor, also appears in the film with her family. She was married to Floyd Raven and they lived on a farm in Freedom near his mother, Ellurra Buzzell. Ellurra had a shetland pony farm and many of the ponies and the Raven's horses appear in the films. Julia and Floyd had seven children, who all appear prominently in the films: Estella (Dee Dee), June, Floyd Jr. (Manny), Mark, Karen Seehafer, Jean Scott, and Shawn.
