Leslie, Peter Collection

Primary Format and Extent
film (3,600 ft.) ; si., col. ; 8 mm.

Collection Date Range
1956 – 1972

Summary
The collection consists of 14 reels of 8mm film totaling approximately 3,600 feet, including home movies and travel films.
Tennis, Sailing, Football, Soccer.
Peter Leslie's father was one of the original pilots for Panair, so he and his family traveled a lot during that time. Peter went to high school at Phillips Exeter Academy as an adolescent and shot footage of his adventures.
There is one reel in the collection, Reel 7 (acc.2490.0007) called "Silent World" which is all underwater footage he shot in 1954 in Canton Island, Kiribati. The title is an homage to Jacques Cousteau's "Le Monde du Silence." Peter says he and his brother used a plan from Popular Science magazine to build a water-tight case for their film camera, which allowed him to shoot this diving footage.
