Known more simply as the Biograph Company after 1909, it declined in importance after director D.W. Griffith resigned in 1917. The Library of Congress was established in 1800. Located in Washington, D.C., it serves the members of Congress as well as the entire Government and the American public through various divisions and a wide range of services.
