Grant, Frank Collection
      1940 – 1957
      Presque Isle, ME
Collection contains two reels of home movies documenting ice industry practices in Presque Isle, Maine, including clearing snow, cutting ice, and loading blocks into train cars. Collection also includes prints of government civil defense and Army Air Force training films from the 1940s: "AAF Combat Weekly," "Behind the Line of Duty," "First Aid for Burns," "The Mission of Air Transport Command," and "Operation Cue." These nationally distributed titles provide context for news and amateur footage in NHF’s holdings related to civil defense practices in Maine.
Joe Gagnon was a civil defense coordinator for Presque Isle. He also was involved in the ice industry supplying ice for potato shipping.
