Summary
The collection consists of 20 reels of 16mm film, totaling approximately 7100 feet. The reels are a mix of commercial films, and home movies shot by John Bryant Paine between 1920 and 1940.

Biographical/Historical Notes
John Bryant Paine (1870-1951) was the son of Charles J. Paine and Julia (Bryant) Paine. He and his brother Sumner Paine participated in the 1896 Olympic Games. John Bryant Paine and his wife Louise had six children John Bryant Jr. (1901-1976), Helen (b. 1904), Caroline (1906-2000), Julia (1909-1943), Louise (b. 1911), Charlotte (1913-1966), and Sarah (b. 1919). The Paine family are descendants of Thomas Paine.
