Peters, Kathy/Dyer Memorial Library Collection

      1940
This collection consists of a digital copy of "Abington Movie Queen" which was filmed in Abington, Massachusetts, in 1940. "Abington Movie Queen" is a short production about a film star who arrives in her home town of Abington. She tours the town, receives gifts from local merchants, is kidnapped, then rescued. The footage provides views of street scenes, local businesses, residents, and industry.
Amateur Theatre Guild of Boston sent directors to lead "Movie Queen" events in a still unknown number of towns in the mid-1930s. In each town, traveling players helped to put on a stage show, and a film was made with local people.
Authorization to reuse and/or reproduce must be obtained from Northeast Historic Film. See http://oldfilm.org/content/stock-footage-licensing for more information.
