Summary
Collection contains [George Mulherin--home movies], scenes from a family trip and world cruise on the Cunard Line in the early 1930s including the American West, tropical islands, the Middle East, Berlin, Paris, the Alps, Greece and Italy. Other footage shows family summer activities, estate and grounds, boating, golfing and children, and scenes of the 1964 Maine Potato Festival in Fort Fairfield, with a parade and beauty pageant featuring Miss Van Buren and Miss Houlton.
Collection also contains industrial works. "The Resource and the Challenge" is a commercially-produced promotional film for the J.R. Simplot Company, specializing in "diversified growth" such as mining, agricultural and timber production. Wikipedia "Machine, Inc. of Maine" features a sand screening equipment company.

Biographical/Historical Notes
George Mulherin lived in Rockland, Maine. He worked as a political activist and an independent filmmaker. As a television producer in the Rockland area, he founded Crusade Television. Fort Fairfield, Van Buren and Houlton are located in northern Aroostook County.
