The Edaville Collection

$39.95

The Edaville Railroad in South Carver, Massachusetts was the last bastion of two-foot gauge railroading in the United States.  Comprised of equipment which formerly operated in the State of Maine, the Edaville was originally built to service a cranberry plantation owned by Ellis D. Atwood.  The little steam powered train soon became a major tourist attraction and one of America's first "theme parks."  Established in 1941, the five-mile line was a New England fixture until it closed in 1991.
This DVD includes two films:
Massachusetts' Maine Attraction: The only definitive documentary on Edaville ever produced.  Through archival footage you learn the history of the Maine Two-footers and observe regular-service trains on the Sandy River and Bridgton and Harrison Railroads as well as the evolution of Edaville.
Edaville Revisited: Describes the sale and movement of most of the Edaville equipment to the new Maine Narrow Gauge Museum in Portland, and the short-llived 1997 revival of Edaville itself.

Preserve

Without cold storage at low humidity, the film in your basement or your neighbor's attic cracks, rots, and fades, and part of our region's history is lost. NHF staff members have the skills and tools to preserve your valued moving images.
