The Valley of the Giants
(James Cruze, 1919)
Based on the book by Peter B. Kyne, the film tells the story of Bryce Cardigan (Wallace Reid), who has sworn to protect his mother's burial site in the glade named "The Valley of the Giants." When Cardigan's father develops financial problems, the land is in danger of being lost to unscrupulous rival lumberman Colonel Pennington (Ralph Lewis). Reid was seriously injured during the filming, which was shot on location in the California Redwood country.
