"PAPERTOWN," A film by Verona Island's Sam Russell

There will be two free screenings of “Papertown,” a film about the Bucksport Verso paper mill closing. November 21st from 6pm to 7pm, followed by a reception from 7pm to 7:45pm, and then a second showing at 7:45pm.

“Papertown” premiered at this year’s Camden International Film Festival and was produced and directed by Sam Russell, who will be in attendance. Sam is a Brooklyn, NY based cinematographer/filmmaker, who grew up on Verona Island and is a graduate of Bucksport High School. His work includes the award winning original film, “By Blood”, PBS series’ “Finding Your Roots”, “Front Line”, “The Italian Americans”, “Lidia’s Kitchen”, and work on the soon to be released feature documentary of Andrew Solomon’s “Far From the Tree”.

The 7pm reception with have refreshments and entertainment provided by the Celtic duo, “Yesterday’s Men”, whose name was inspired by the song from “the Fureys” and Davey Arthur about mills closing down in England in the eighties. Both screenings will include a showing of NHF archival footage of the Bucksport Mill.
