Summary
Collection contains two documentaries. "Dead River Rough Cut" (1977) depicts four seasons in northern Maine; two middle-aged men hunt, trap and log, and share reflections about lives and personal issues. "Trap Day" (1977) depicts the annual midwinter ritual of setting lobster traps on Monhegan Island. "Cut and Run" (1980), narrated by Marshall Dodge, addresses the relationship between Maine woodsmen and the paper companies, including problems of health and safety in the woods, mechanization, and labor organizing. Collection also contains a docudrama, "First Encounters" [ca.1980], about disabled people and others' responses to them, including interviews with disabled and other actors in the film about issues raised by this work.
