Biographical/Historical Notes
Margaret Cram, an independent filmmaker connected with the Boston Amateur Theatre Guild, arranged Movie Queen events in several Maine towns in the mid-1930s. In each town traveling players helped to put on a stage show, and a film was made with local people. In Lubec, local residents Evangeline Morrison played the Movie Queen and Jimmy Simmonds played her rescuer. Typed transcripts of 1989 interviews with cast members are available in the collection file.

A script of Movie Queen by Lauren K. Woods and associated production documents from the Amateur Theatre Guild may be found in the Marion Angeline Howlett Papers, Harvard Theatre Collection, Harvard University.
