Summary
Collection contains birding films from Bonaventure Island and Great Spruce Head Island which were used by John Porter for lecture tours. Collection also contains family scenes from Bronxville, NY, and New Jersey, as well as travels in northern Africa. Other reels include "Geological formations, Maine & New York, 1945," footage of track meets and football games, as well as a Kodak Cinegraph print "Bill Tilden Tennis."
Biographical/Historical Notes
John F. Porter was a teacher in the Bronxville (NY) school system. His birding films were shown in schools across the country. David Porter is the grandson of James F. Porter and the son of John F. Porter.
