Pine Tree Society Collection

Collection Date Range
1940 to 1979
Summary
Collection contains promotional footage: Pine Tree Camp/Easter Seal Society, and "Tall Shadows." The earliest film, from the 1940s, features disabled children involved in camp activities such as swimming, canoeing, and enjoying a bonfire. The majority of the footage, primarily from the 1960s and 1970s, also documents the children served by the society interracting within the summer camp at North Pond in the Belgrade Lakes region of Maine. These films include both completed prints and outtakes. Several have material made at other National Easter Seal Society chapters around the country, such as a promotional piece for immunization narrated by actor Lorne Green. "Tall Shadows," produced in 1978, is a fundraising film for Easter Seals that uses Maine footage.
