Biographical/Historical Notes
Carl Hamlin, resident of Milo, Maine, worked for Dowlin Lumber Co. from 1940 to 1955. He and his cousin flew planes for the company, and Carl took the aerial footage in this collection. The Penobscot Development Company, which drove pulpwood on the Piscataquis River, was bought by the James River Company, a pulp and paper company. Castle Films was formed in 1924 and distributed 16 mm. and 8 mm. short films for sale to the home market. The company was sold to Universal in 1947.
